Many of you are aware that Cisco just rolled out ISE 1.3. There are exciting new changes in this release, many of which enhance Guest and BYOD deployments. I’ve written about some of the changes already. You can find them here, here, and here. Since I’ve personally been teaching a number of 5-day official Cisco ISE courses lately, one thing is for sure: The official Cisco training course is a tad bit outdated. The official course (SISE) was written for Cisco ISE 1.1.x, but we are using ISE 1.2 in the labs for obvious reasons. In light of these thoughts, we are proud to announce that we are providing a reasonable training offering that covers Cisco ISE 1.3. The following section provides an outline of what we’ll cover in this one day primer course.
Cisco ISE 1.3 Course Outline
- Introduction to ISE capabilities
In this section we will discuss some of what ISE can do, both in early version and now in 1.3
- Introduction to ISE distributed deployment and certificate installation
In this section we will add certificates to ISE and deploy ISE1 and ISE2 in a distributed deployment. We will make ISE2 the Primary Monitoring Node and ISE1 the Primary Admin Node.
- Introduction to ISE integration with AD
In this section we will integrate our ISE deployment with AD so we have an external database to authenticate against. We will also discuss the new ability to add multiple AD domains.
- Introduction to ISE Authentication & Authorization Policies and their elements
In this section we will cover how to work with ISE policies and we will build our Authentication and Authorization policy. At the end of this section will be able to authenticate a wired and a wireless client.
- Introduction to ISE Posture Services
In this section we are going to add to ISE capabilities and configure Posture assessment. We will deploy the new Anyconnect 4.0 client for ISE 1.3.
- Introduction to ISE Guest & BYOD Services
In this section we will configure guest access with ISE using the Guest Access section of the configuration GUI. In this section we will also configure BYOD using the internal ISE CA Server.
Each of these modules will be live demo and the entire course is NOT a death by powerpoint course. This course is designed to get you in, get ISE configured, and be able to test and verify. We will not cover the installation of ISE in this course, as it is now as simple as deploying an OVA file to ESXi.
The course will start at 7AM PST, and will run approximately 6-8 hours. This is an interactive course and questions and comments during the session are welcomed. This course will not be recorded.
To enroll in this course simply fill out the form below. We will send you the course login information a few days before the start date. This course is guaranteed to run.
