Some days are better than others I suppose. Today was one of those days that could have gone better. I dont know if it was because there were some distractions or if VPN just has it in for me. At any rate I did day 2 of the IE 5-day bootcamp. Today covered VPN and Identity Management.
Here is the short of it:
- I didn’t make it to the Identity Management Stuff.
- Started Strong with a site-to-site VPN between two routers . That is until I tested. It never worked but I kept moving with the hopes to come back to it.
- Next was a VPN between a 3000 and a VPN Client begind an ASA- piece of cake. No- really it was.
- Only thing i have issue with is bandwidth limits. The solution shows a policy applied to the interface but the lab says to make sure it doesnt apply to other traffic. I think its just the wording I cant get past.
- Next came VPN between a router and a PIX. Not too bad but….although the VPN establishes I cant get 2 way traffic.
- Next VPN remote access from a client behind an ASA to a PIX. also pretty easy.
- Finally DMVPN. No matter how many people blog about it (Petr @ IE and Stretch @ Packetlife.net) and how many times i configure it, something always goes wrong. THe tunnel come up. No EIGRP neigh.
- This one Im gonna let sit and come back to later tonight. I’m pretty sure I can fix it (not a split-horizon issue this time!)
Thats it. Like I said, never made it to identity Management. No Idea how this effects my day tomorrow but for the moment I cant look at another CLI. I’m going to go get a steak with my Mom and Dad while I’m here. Man I love Steer and Stein. They need to put one up in Seattle.

A friend of mine just emailed me one of your articles from a while back. I read that one a few more. Really enjoy your blog. Thanks
